Vox Tonelab LE Advice.........

Does it have better tone than the Pod XT Live? I want organic tube amp tone. I dont want digital sounding crap. I want a pedal that will respond to my playing and dynamics like my marshall dsl. Is the tonelab what I am looking for? I see it has a 12ax7 preamp tube in it...and Im wondering if that is where the gain is coming from, or is this simply a preamp...or maybe a gimmick? thanks!!! ALL your opinions on this pedal will be MUCH appreciated! thanks in advance

Re: Vox Tonelab LE Advice.........

I've got the tonelab SE, and IMO, it sounds very organic. It's the kind of pedal you want to get if raw tone is more important to you than versitility, becuase it's much more simple and basic than the POD XT Live. The only quibble I have is that you cant run an overdrive and a wah pedal at the same time in it, but I just plug one into the available loop. But as far as the amp models go, very organic sounding. The plexi model is my favorite for in between clean/dirty sounds, and I love the AC-30 model, very sweet and bright, good singing tone if you put an overdrive pedal in front of it, and the cleans from the twin and blackface models are very rich, but not very sparkl-y. Also, you can get them for pretty cheap on ebay (compared with what they normally go for)

go play one!

I for one love them. No, it doesn't sound exactly like my bassman but it does have a wide variety of great tones.

The vox products also feel like an amp, which is important to me. Your mileage may vary, however.
