VSTi electro demo track - whaaat...?!?

My friend Vincenzo (you could hear his sound design worxx when you play Crysis or Witcher to name 2 out of many) created a sound pack for a VSTi by Hypersynth, called SIDIZER

The sound pack is called SIDized:

This monster is a faithful tonal recreation of the soundchip of an old 8-bit computer called Commodore64. It had a nasty sounding 3-channel synth inside that was capable of creating juicy sounds like a Moog synth with a little care. In contemporary EDM, when you listen to Skrillex or Deadmau5 you can hear a lot of chip and old school synth sounds and this synth above can be a great tool that can create such and beyond.

I was asked to create a demo track for him for the release, using SIDizer and his sound pack only so apart from drums you can hear this synth only, going from its pure old-school chip sounds to contemporary EDM wobbles and drops:

It needs some time to build up as it starts in the '80s but uh-oh it is electro, shake yer ass ;)

Already won it man, years ago :)

Most releases are around -9 to -8 dBFS RMS these days, this track is somewhere in-between. No clipping whatsoever, the dirt what you hear is the 8-bit synth itself.

Just telling, because of the nature of the source material it would be possible to pump it up to -4 dBFS RMS without clipping :)

March's Sound On Sound had a very in depth article on the current state do the Loudness Wars ... great demo track! Love the lead voice at about 2:30. I could definitely find a use for many of these sounds!

I love electro blips and used them quite a bit on side 2 of my last album. (Somewhere in this forum ... Posted it last night)

I realized that. Once you get past your intro the volume jumps and the music sounds really harsh at this end. I listened to it through some computer speakers first and thought it may have been them but later I played it through a system with good HiFi monitoring. It still seemed harsh, like it would give you hearing fatigue in a short space of time. I haven't tried it loud but MP3s tend to sound like crap up loud, all the dynamic rage compressed out of them.

Interesting piece of music , by the way.
