Wah and EQ.

Hey.

I am getting a new Wah Wah and EQ pedal.

The wah, really kinda like the fat live wah sound that Hammett from metallica has, I was thinking the CB 535Q, I havent heard it before, but heard that it should be good to do it? Any recommendations?

EQ, well again in the Tallica/80's ballpark, What is good? The MXR 10band?

Hope you can help,

Thanks.

Re: Wah and EQ.

My favorite wah is the Original CryBaby, but I use it for different things, so you might like to try a few first. For EQs, any 7- to 10-band EQ which includes frequencies between 100 Hz and 5 kHz should be fine. It really doesn't matter if the EQ unit is marketed for guitar, acoustic, bass, vocals, etc. That MXR and any Boss are worthy choices; many people like their Danelectro and Behringer EQs also, but I prefer Boss.

Re: Wah and EQ.

I'm not really sure which wah, Kirk uses, but in your position, I would get the EQ first. Then I would attempt to "customize" the sound of the wah with the EQ. If it's not enough, then I would try different Vox, Morley, and Dunlop wahs to compare.

Re: Wah and EQ.

I have a 535Q wah, and with a little playing around I can get it from FAT to very very thin sounding. Definately try one out if you're looking for a versatile wah . . .
