i was goofing around yesterday with the tone on my setup during a low key practice with my other guitarist and i found the holy-grail of tone ....for me at least.
I ran the bandmaster with treble on 4.5, bass on 10, volume at 5. Spina TS9 with drive on 5, tone on 5, level on 5, and before the tubescreamer i ran my vox wah tilted forward all the way. The extra bass on the bandmaster and the rolling off of treble on the TS9 along with the flow of extra treble from the wah gave my strat's neck pickup a smooth, transparent, articulate, yet semi-darkish tone to die for. In position 2 (neck and middle), a bit more bass is added, smoothing out the tone for more santana-ish leads.
Man that wah did the trick...one more note-Spina's work on my TS9 pedal was focused on generating a darker, smoother tone, so a stock pedal would likely have to run lower on the tone knob.
