Walnut

I have a new custom build Carvin on the way... and it will be a 6 string, Walnut body (Eastern walnut I believe), Figured Claro Walnut top, maple neck thru with 2 walnut stripes. Ebony board with SS frets... It will be finished in "tung oil."

I am looking for a TIGHT thick metal tone.. with clarity... The guitar is being built now and I should have it in about a month or so... I'm just looking ahead to possible pickup retrofits... I was thinking MAYBE a Black Winter set, or maybe a Distortion br and full shred neck? What SD humbucker has the most "single coil" vocal type lead tone (with gain for the neck)... or should I go CS again?

Thanks Tone Wizards!!\

Re: Walnut

Hmm personally the bridge of a distortion set sounds nice and tight to me! I prefer JBs for their versatility but if its distortion youre after, I would recommend a Distortion. Also sounds like a nice build! Send some pics our way!

Re: Walnut

most singlecoil like lead, for a humbucker? jazz bridge in the neck or a fullshred neck.

for the bridge,I'd go with an alternative 8. the sh6 is imho too tight and with too much highs for a walnut guitar.

Re: Walnut

The Alt 8 would be a great choice for the bridge if you want a nice full and balanced tone out of the walnut. The Dist. will be pretty bright in that guitar.

Agree about the Jazz (bridge) for the neck slot to keep it from sounding too thin.
