Wample Triple Wreck

Hello all,
I can't say enough about how damn good this pedal is. When you have a Fender like clean and then drive the front end with this pedal, you get such a remarkable tone that sounds more like a Mesa then Mesa's own pedals. Wampler destroyed it when they made this , it's like they took the preamp out of a Triple REC and put it into a pedal. I can't believe how tube like it sounds. How responsive it is, how hard it is to setup just a Mesa is.

I find myself using this pedal more than my amps drive channel. I like the way it sounds and responds. This pedal is so worth the asking price it's almost a crime.

Well done Wampler , I totally love this thing.

Re: Wample Triple Wreck

It’s been high up on my list to try for a while now. I probably just need to bite the bullet and pick one up. I keep hoping the used price will drop one of those days, but if they’re that good, that may never be the case.

Re: Wample Triple Wreck

Dude do yourself a favor and get one. If you like how Mesa Boogies sound then this pedal is right for you. One thing I can tell you is don't think about where the setting go when your dialing it in. You will probably be uncomfortable at first as the Bass Mids and Treble settings don't setup the way you would think where they should go. I have mine all wacky compared to how I usually dial in tone for amps pedals etc. They respond to the slightest movement.
The gain level is also something you may find shocking when you dial it in.

Re: Wample Triple Wreck

To my wallet that’s a nontrivial price for a pedal, but for someone who loves rectifier-flavored pedals as much as I do, it’s irresponsible not to own one.

Re: Wample Triple Wreck

The Triple Wreck is just a bloody amazing pedal!!!
I think he took a Triple and took it apart and cloned all the parts, hung out with Bob Carver and made it tube like in it's response. This pedal shouldn't sound as good as it does. I'm blown away how good it is.

Quit it, just quit it, you're making me want one,,,,,,,,,and I even have the real thing already lol.

Mantis, what amp are you running into the clean channel of?

I may have to look into one.. Wanting triple rec tones, but not all the time.

Was checking online and notice a difference. Some of them have smaller lettering that looks written on, and others look more like a logo.
Any difference in/between those??

Funny what you said about dialing one in. was so excited one day at a music store when I got to plug into a Mesa as Id wanted to try one for years.. I couldnt get a good sound to save my life. (didnt have a lot of time) I learned afterwards that it takes a learning curve to dial one in

Re: Wample Triple Wreck

There's actually a "secret place" in Rectifiers that most people don't ever find, and it works especially well for lower-volume with hot pups and clean-boosters/ods.
Vintage mode on orange or red with the presence-knob just to the point where it opens-up, which is around 4:00-4:30 on vintage.
You can just max the presence and then roll it back a hair. Have the other tones around noon to start and then see where you're feeling it with the treble/mids/bass.

It gives you something that sits right in-between the standard modern and vintage tones, which is about perfect for high-output pickups, especially if they're clean-boosted.

One more question. Opinions of this pedal are very high. How does this compare to an AMT R2?

Wampler went from a dude making pedals for people on forums and ebay to a worldwide pedal manufacturer extremely quickly. He revised the graphics and switching a few times as the company grew. All have the same circuit, but watch out for knockoffs. If you find one that is cheap and looks odd, it’s probably a Chinese knockoff that sounds like garbage. If you search you can see what fake Wamplers look like.

The Triple Wreck is a cool pedal. Technically it’s a Fuzz, it’s not like a 1:1 JFET copy of a Mesa Preamp. It’s got big grinding bass like a Big Muff along with a certain type of saturation that is pretty rectifier-esque. And yes, it pretty much has to be used into a clean channel.

Re: Wample Triple Wreck

It might also give some interesting tones into a tube-driven clean with the gain at the edge of breakup, or into a dirty channel with the gain very low.
I've used many "metal" pedals in that manner, and it usually adds some warmth and fullness that just isn't there otherwise. Not sure with this one though.

Man I never realized Wampler was only 90 miles from me!!!

His Youtube channel and podcast are, depending on your preference, pretty informative and entertaining.

I have a Krank Revolution 1. It sounds much like a Fender Twin Reverb or Fender Bassman 10 for the clean channel. Killer head room and plenty of warmth and clarity.
The Triple Wreck pedal like the Mesa Heads are a bit tricky to dial in. Once you learn how to dial in a Mesa or this pedal, it's absolutely some of the best tones one can achieve in my opinion anyway. Check out my settings on mine.fullsizeoutput_1032.jpg
Here's my amp. I got rid of the EVH as I hated the Shared Clean and Drive channel.

If I lived that close to them I would request a factory tour and demo of all their stuff. I'd love to sit down and test drive everything they make. As good as the Triple Wreck is I want another OD style pedal from them.

Re: Wample Triple Wreck

Those KRANK Rev1 2x12s are killer....

Even their pedals were great.

I'm not sure on the newer stuff and haven't read any first-hand opinions on the new models.
The Krankenstein has always had my interest since I never got to hear one in-room. People always bragged on their lighting fast response.
