Any thoughts on these? Hit my radar again and wanted to ask. I did a search and found one piece of feedback on it. Usefullness? Authentic sounding? Anything else? Thanks!

Re: Wampler SLOtortion?

Had one for about 5 days and brought it back to Sam Ash. I have Soldano Astroverb and I kinda wanted that extra SLO channel. It sounds ok for that, but one - I don't use pedals for my main distortion sound and two - it sound cold in comparison to my tube amps.

Re: Wampler SLOtortion?

Yeah, I like pedals for color, but not for my tube amp sound. Or to get a sound I dont get with my amps but dont want to buy another amp. (like in this case here.) Id like to have the slo tone from time to time, but cant afford to buy and slo amp

Re: Wampler SLOtortion?

i have it. played around with it for a few days and didn't really love it. it's sitting in a cabinet filled with underused pedals i own. i found it had a lot of gain but not a lot of bite or crunch. the tone knobs were fairly unresponsive (something i've found is the case with a few other wampler pedals). maybe i was expecting something different out of it. been meaning to take it out again and see if on second chance i dig it or if i should sell it.

Re: Wampler SLOtortion?

Owned on for about 3 months. Mine was the pre-fix edition. It was dark(we) sounding. That worked b/c I had a COT50 in front of it. It was very thick and gain on it is much better than the Bogner Überschall pedal. Also the boost can be used independently. The downside? It was hi gain or nothing. When dialed back in my rig it became plainly and less responsive than what I liked.

Re: Wampler SLOtortion?

Good reviews (or maybe not).

I saw a killer SLO in Snakeskin for $2k a while back. I'd love to have one, but don't need one.

But, SLO in a box? Sure….but I was skeptical….guess not.

Re: Wampler SLOtortion?

Ι have the pedal and I have played with the amp many times, I even had the amp for two weeks at home. I prefer the SLOtortion compared to the Bogner Red I had. I play with Fender & Vox amps that none of them has a middle control or dirt so I realized a three band EQ pedal is more versatile than a pedal with a tone control or treble/bass. I like the pedal for what it is. It slightly resembles the SLO tone but if you expect to sound, and most important feel, like the amp stay away. The SLO is a touch responsive amp with two great channels. I like both the clean and OD channel of the SLO and you just can't get the tone of an amp with a pedal.

Decent sounding distortion box.

Sounds absolutely nothing like a real SLO. Buy a used Jet City for basically the same amount of money if you want soldano-ish.
