Wanna hear a death metal-clip with my son, with Tony Pimental on bass?

Re: Wanna hear a death metal-clip with my son, with Tony Pimental on bass?

Its not death metal, Im not sure how it would be labelled its not really my thing (Im into the old school stuff).

It was very nicely played though.

Re: Wanna hear a death metal-clip with my son, with Tony Pimental on bass?

You´re right. But I don´t know what to call it myself. It´s metal oriented in the heavy riff in the beginning, but later also a fusion oriented melody. I like it.

Re: Wanna hear a death metal-clip with my son, with Tony Pimental on bass?

Nobody knows how to call it. The word "Djent" comes from Sevenstring. org and Ibanez uses that word to call this kind of music as "Djent Metal" :) But one thing is right in your description. This kind of " low tune punchy guitar riffing" began with Downtuned 7 string guitars, and one of the first bands to utilize it was Morbid Angel. Check " God of Emptyness"
Though the roots are in Death Metal, the reason why it got so widespread is Meshuggah. They made the whole low tuning, 8 string multiscale instruments famous.
Anyways, I like it. Nicely done.
Check Animals as Leaders, Periphery, Red Seas Fire, Tesseract etc. for this kind of music!
BTW, the bass solo fits nicely the whole song.

Very cool! I live in LA and have been in bands with MI grads, they can all play their butts off.

Re: Wanna hear a death metal-clip with my son, with Tony Pimental on bass?

That´s cool.
And yes, we know Meshuggah, we´re from Sweden. And about Periphery; my son said that he met Bulb in LA and spoke with him. A nice guy, according to my son.

Cool!:)
Misha "bulb" is also a member here. He used to post his raw clips in this exact section. you can check them :) And yes, he is a unique man with big talent and cool attitude :)

There is something in Swedish water or air that makes you guys very musical. Abba, Malmsteen, Eklundh....
Cheers!

I only just heard of this guy yesterday (Im not up on modern stuff like I said), I never knew he was a member on this forum. Someone on another forum was saying he would be more of a coup in terms of selling guitars for a company than Dave Mustaine!

Don't forget Quorthon.

I didn´t know that Bulb posts here.
And Ia Eklundh yes, he´s from Gothenburg like us. I recently met and spoke with Ia. We discussed dist pedals. He had a West-Siberian AMT Fatal Tube, and I had an AMT California Sound. No matter; I got a certain feeling that he was a much better guitarist than me. :flush:

This is IA and me :) Funny guy indeed
He is a big fan of fatal tube. I saw him using it both live and on a video. His tones are not my favorit, but his attitude :)

Re: Wanna hear a death metal-clip with my son, with Tony Pimental on bass?

He´s a really funny guy. :)
They called him Turbotruten when he was in school: "Turbomouth", something. You´ve been at his guitarcamps outside Gothenburg? My son visited the camp three summers in a row.

No, I am not a shredder :) This was in Berlin at his clinic. I would like to be in his camps, but his style and my style are not compatible hehe. I don't even tune my guitars anything near "standard" :)

But I am sure it's hell of an experience.

Re: Wanna hear a death metal-clip with my son, with Tony Pimental on bass?

Thanks...on his behalf. ;)

Perhaps I on this forum should say that he use a borrowed guitar on this recording; an Ibanez with two SD JBs. Normally he use his own Suhr Modern 7 with Dough Aldrich pickups, but it was on repair at the moment.

Re: Wanna hear a death metal-clip with my son, with Tony Pimental on bass?

Cool intro riff, and parts where it returns w/ layering. Sick bass lead.

Basically instrumental progressive groove thrash. If you're looking for a genre, sub genre, or sub sub sub genre.

could have used a snazzy MIT upside down diminished lead though.

Nice, a lot better than most 'djent' tunes out there. Actually listened to it quite a few times now.

Has that annoying, really 'artificial' production style I've come to really hate about the genre though, particularly with the guitar sound

Re: Wanna hear a death metal-clip with my son, with Tony Pimental on bass?

Hm...I have to say that I agree. It sounds great, IMHO, but there´s still a lack of surprising and odd guitar licks. However, a very good singer from Seattle has made a song line, and my son is making an outro solo in the end of the tune. This will make the final tune more exciting (he will then use his Suhr Modern 7 with the Dough Aldrich pickups).
