Re: Wanna rip heads off?

I traded Dave (theodie) for an Epiphone Goth V. He sent it to me set up with the Distortion set & the SPC. Using the Modern Hi-Gain (Soldano) setting on my V-Amp2, and setting the SPC on 10 gives a Killswitch Engage End of Heartache tone.

I only tried the Afterburner briefly, but the Jackson I used sounded noisey as hell with it on. It had EMG HZs. I like the SPC better, as it heats up the pickup with no additional noise :)

Also, you can use the SPC with any pickups.

Re: Wanna rip heads off?

yea i was just reading the data sheet for it, i also read about the RPC, they sound interesting.. i cant find the SPC on any music sites to buy tho... you know how much it cost by any chance?

Offhand how much of a boost is it?

I'll have to look but the new Kerry king set includes the spc along with the 81/85. Of Course you know this.

BTW. I switched my pups around last saturday.....so far I like the 85 in the bridge far better.

Then it got me remembering. Pinch harmonics were screaming off my 498T Im wondering now if I wired it bad. I mean I can still pinch em good just not as easily. Hell I can do pinch harmonics on a less output pickup.

Re: Wanna rip heads off?

Eventually I'm going to start a joke band like GWAR and get Kerry King's EMG set and put it in a BC Rich or some stereotypically metal guitar and get a classic crappy metal tone. Sorry for those of you who like Slayer.

Re: Wanna rip heads off?

kerry kings set comes with the PA-2 which is almost the same as the after burner, doesnt come with the SPC... if im not mistaken

Re: Wanna rip heads off?

I think those afterburners are pretty awesome. I played an ESP through a Marshall DSL combo and when i hit the afterburner it really added alot of gain. ALOT of gain. Can you use those with any pickup?

Re: Wanna rip heads off?

Yeah, all the EMG boost controls work with anything.

Harrison, just replace one of the tone knobs with it.

Re: Wanna rip heads off?

Oh ya, forgot to ask. You could wire a switch in series with the afterburner so you dont have to use the push/pull right? Ya i guess it would work wouldnt it. Just turn the burner all the way up and put it into the control cav. I dont like having to use the push/pull tho turn it on and off.

Re: Wanna rip heads off?

You should get the PA-2. Same thing as the afterburner, but it's an on/off switch rather than a pot.

Re: Wanna rip heads off?

Thats awesome, because if i sell my Dean i'm gonna get a tube amp
(And i'll need a boost)

Distortion set & EMG SPC control... all I gotta say :firedevil
Have you cranked the living piss out of it yet?

Before I sent it to you I played it with that setup, it sounded like it would make alot of women and children run the other direction!!!!! :laugh2: :laugh2:

It was just down right focking mean sounding!!!!!

Re: Wanna rip heads off?

harrisondavid, I know what you mean about the EMG's and lack of harmonics, I had an 85 and an 81 in the bridge slot of one of my guitars previously and I just couldn't hit the pinch harmonics on it like I could on my guitars with passives. I'm not an active fan to begin with and that gave me one more reason to switch back to some seymours.
