want a pedal to replace my Marshall guvnor plus

I use it to tighten, thicken and add mid range to my krank which sounds very scooped. Anything that is basically the same without the annoying hum the pedal produces? I wouldn't mind having the same bmt eq if possible. Have been recommended mi audio crunch box before. Would this do?

What power supply are you using with the Marshall GV-2?

Re: want a pedal to replace my Marshall guvnor plus

I used to have a Marshall guvnor plus and replaced it with a Crunch Box, and the Crunch Box is way better in every way. It was worth the money!

Although, I don't remember the Marshall being extra noisy...:scratchch

Are you using the Guvnor for boosting your Krank's Drive channel? If so, the Crunch Box probably won't be less noisy. For that sort of application, you'll need a noise suppressor or noise gate of some kind to help with the added noise.

Yeah, I am. I use the krank gain below half way.:
The guvnor plus needs the gain turned up a little, maybe 9 o'clock so the mids are noticeable. The pedal is pretty old and beat up.

The guvnor and the crunch box are both designed to get a kind of marshall amp crunch. Using marshally type amp sounding pedals to make a Krank sound more midrangy and thick is doing it the hard way.
I'm not taking the piss, but maybe you should consider keeping things real simple and trading in your Krank amp and pedal setup and getting your hands on a Marshall amp instead.

Then I'm afraid replacing the pedal with a Crunch box won't fix your hum problem...
If you like the sound you have right now and your Guvnor still works fine, my suggestion is to invest in a good noise suppressor.

Yeah, I probably should of bought a Chadwick. Marshall tone isn't edgy enough for I tend to play. With this set up, I get a pretty versatile array of tones. A noise suppressor sounds like it's needed. My krank isn't really worth anything here, so I may as well hang on to it..@

I am not familiar with the Krank's ins/outs, but if it has a loop, an eq pedal would be worth looking at. An eq pedal has become one of my quintessential pedals, along with a noise suppressor (ISP Decimator) and a tuner.

I think that you will get a great product from MI Audio, they make quality products. I might even suggest you look at their new Super Crunch Box.

Good luck!!!
