Just got the reissue Bass VI. I really like it. However... the neck pup is totally wimpy. Which is odd because I've had short scale basses with PLENTY of woof on the neck... and the bridge pup sounds great (although to be fair it's a different style.)
Anyhoo...looking for options on a new neck pup... or rewinding.
I was wondering if I could what is so 'special' about these pups? IOW: are they simply guitar pups? I'm wondering if just replacing it with a stacked humbucker from a strat is worth a try. (I have JB59s in a strat that I -really- like. Or if there really is a freq. response difference between a 'guitar' pup and a 'bass' pup.
Ideas?
