Warmoth Mint Green Pickguards...

I have been thinking of changing out my white pearl pickguard for either a mint green or parchment guard for my Tele. I looked at Warmoth and their mint green guards look really "green" to me; too much green in fact.

Does anyone here have any experience with the mint green or parchment pickguards from Warmoth? I like the way Yngwie's Fender sig Strat looks with the vintage white and the mint green pickguard. Of course now, Fender uses a standard w/b/w pickguard for the YJM Strat. Why did Fender stop using the mint green on the YJM sig?

Also, what's the story with mint green pickguards? When and why did Fender use them? In the old days were they white and they aged to mint green?

Okay, while I wait on the Fender pickguard wizards to appear, I'll answer one of my own questions. It looks like the mint green guards came about in the 60's. Did they quit doing them in the 70's? If so, maybe Fender realized it and quit putting the mint green guards on the YJM Strat because it is representative of a 70's Strat...

I've seen the same thing. The Warmoth mint green seems a little greener than the standard Fender green.

Warmouth has better color than most... you can't go wrong...
I know... do not but Stew Mac's.
As a matter of fact, Fender and Warmouth are the only ones that look right to me IMHO.

don't quote me, but I don't think Fender originally referred to them as mint -- it's just what people started calling it, and it stuck. It was the particular composition of the celluloid that gave it a greenish cast.

looks good on some colors, not so hot on others IMO :)

and yes, Warmoth's looks greener than Fenders.

Thanks Curly, makes sense. I think the mint green looks good on Lake Placid Blue, Vintage White, and 3-tone Sunburst.

I can't comment on the Warmoth, but the Fender branded one on my strat is very subtle and looks beautiful.

Re: Warmoth Mint Green Pickguards...

Okay, let's say I go with a mint green pickguard, I use a Stat pickup in the middle position. Do I go with a white cover or aged white?

Re: Warmoth Mint Green Pickguards...

Aged white, it just looks right to me...much more so than bright white. In fact I'd use black covers before I'd ever use plain white with mint green.
