Warmoth Nomad neck question

I'm looking at the Warmoth Nomad for a future project, and was wondering if any of you knew if it could be trimmed down to the point Kramer headstock specs.

It looks to me like it should work, but I was wondering if any of you guys could give me a definitive answer of if they added more wood to avoid legal issues, or if it is a different design entirely.

Re: Warmoth Nomad neck question

That's what I was thinking too. I don't get why they discontinued the model that actually followed the original Kramer specs minus an additional bump that could be trimemd off no problem.

Best way around that is to order a paddle headstock with the Nightswan "ping pong" inlays and use the headstock tracing I'm going to send you to complete the look. They absolutely cut too much out due to the very reasons you stated.

Re: Warmoth Nomad neck question

If you really look closely the Nomad headstock isn't angled as much as a Nightswan either so in the end it would just look way off.

Also I'm not so sure if a paddle headstock which I think is generally aimed at 3+3 headstocks will have enough material to cut the shape out so you may need to add even more wood and then drill the tuners and cut the shape.

I may be wrong on that and you might be just fine with a paddle as a base.

Re: Warmoth Nomad neck question

They still have the Slapshot design which is a take on the banana headstock. The Nomad is a variation of the Explorer headstock.

I'm toying with swapping the neck on my '88 Baretta so I can actually play it comfortably. The stock neck profile is too flat with little shoulder so my hands are bothered by it these days. I'm either going with the Slapshot or the Warhead (just to be different).

IMO, If you're doing a Swan project, get a reverse Slapshot and call it done.

They had to make variations to what they used to offer or discontinue designs completely due to legal issues. They are licensed by Fender but not by Gibson.
