Warmoth Strat Neck Arrived! (Pics)

Just to let you guys know that my Warmoth strat neck arrived today. I go this from Fatty (Alex) and only 5 days from the US straight to my home in the UK (no customs). To say that I was pleased when I unwrapped it is putting it mildly.

It is a rosewood wenge neck (unfinished), with a brazillian rosewood fretboard, compound radius, 6130 medium jumbo frets, bone nut, abalone face dots, wizard back profile. Gold Gotoh tuners angled downwards intentionally. The neck is in absolutely mint condition and is going to go on one of my strats - propably the '57 JV strat with the Fralin pups in them, although might go on something else??

My thanks to Alex for agreeing to ship it over to me in the UK and for getting it over to me so fast. I have left a positive post in the good trade thread in the trading room.

I have only taken these pictures very quickly so apologies for the poor quality, but hopefully you'll get the idea.

very cool

It's so exotic, that it would be nice on a koa or mahogany body

just my opinion, of course

it's a great looking neck, though

Very Nice! Does it have any finish on it, or is it raw? I think the tilted tuning keys are kind of custom looking! A very nice neck!

The neck is unfinished - raw, although I think it has some sort of oil based penetrating sealer in it. It is going to be a fast neck, not only in looks but also in its feel and thats before strapping it on!!. I know that Warmoth prefer that some sort of finish is applied so that they don't get warped and twisted, but for the UK I think it should be okay as we don't have the severe weather temperatures as in some parts of the US.

That neck is beautiful Norman. It will look great on an exotic body, once you decide which one will be your christmas present.

Norman,
don't finish that neck!

you're right, Warmoth applies a sealer ... although they say specifically that Wenge requires no finish, and a lot of players like that feel.

Beautiful neck!! Mind telling us the nut width + radius, pls?

1 11/16" at the nut, radius is the Warmoth 10"-16" compound radius.

Thanks guys for the compliments and also for Alex (Fatty) telling you the size of that damn thing.

I paid $200 (which included shipping) - Alex hope you don't mind me telling folks this - and that included the tuners, bolts and also the string tree retainers. I have always wanted a wenge neck, with brazilian rosewood neck and when Alex posted this in the trading room I snapped it up. Quite frankly the pictures that I took don't do it proper justice and I hope to get some proper shots of it soon. Alex is a great person to deal with and I do hope that if any of you see anything from him you snap it up quickly as this guy is pure quality all the way!!

Unfortunately I now have the dilemna of whether I want to put in my JV strat or in my Highway strat or to get something else completely. Boy oh boy am I running into problems (nice ones)

wtf is up with the tilted tuners?

Beautiful neck Norman. (And I don't normally say that to guys.) :laugh2:

I've bought stuff from Alex before too. He's a good man. ;)

I have a Warmoth Wenge Strat neck with an Ebony fingerboard and Stainless Steel frets. I've been playing professionally for 25 years and this neck is absolutley the fastest neck I have ever played on. While many bass players already know about the Wenge howling tone and speed, it is one of the best kept secrets for guitar players.
