I just bought a Line6 Pod XT- it has a preset- "Round and Round"- it nails the Ratt Demartini tone, not to mention many more like Metallica's Master of Puppets..

I picked it up used at Guitar Center for $130

Yep... and there are lots of user and line6 crafted tones you can download which will nail a lot of things. Only thing is there are lots of variables, like what kind of guitar and pickups, and what the pod is being fed into, or what kind of headphones you are using.... I could keep going..... Point being is that your mileage really varies here cause what sounds like Warren Demartini to you can sound like garbage to someone using different equipment.

Don't get me wrong.... I love the POD and being a big UFO and Schenker fan, I have been able to record a lot his stuff for fun on my computer that got pretty damn close. The kicker is that Schenker used Marshalls and Gibson V's but some of my best Schenker tones were obtained using the Soldano SLO model and a Les Paul so go figure :)

I don't think I would recommend anyone buy the device to nail any particular guitarist's sound, but it is definitely a help in figuring out what kind of sound you want out of a real amp and is downright fun to play around with.

Re: Warren Demartini fans.....

I agree. I'm feeding the Pod into the effects loop (power amp) of my new Carvin V3, into 2 Celestion GT-75's. It's alot better than the original Pod 2.0. I doubt it would sound as good if it were plugged into the front end of a solid state amp
