Warren Di and an LP!

Until the pics from user group day, I dont think Ive ever seen warren play anything but a Charvel and once, a strat.

This is a tasty version of Round and Round frm 2007. Pearcy doesnt seem too enthused, but Warren's playing makes it all worthwhile...

Wow this video just tells me how much I don't know about the 80s, the music in that song would have fooled me for a Van Halen cover any day.

Apparently you don't know anything about Van Halen either, yeesh.

As for the clip- Pearcy needs to give it up, that was horrid.

Re: Warren Di and an LP!

He's also been known to play a Tele. Although, it's a Performance, like most of his other guitars.

Re: Warren Di and an LP!

I dunno, I think that vocal performance just plain ruins anything warren could make up for on that lester. I think lots of ears were bleeding in chicago that night.

Re: Warren Di and an LP!

Ouch, that last note steven let out reminded me of the sound the cat made when I was a kid and thought it was funny to dangle it over the toilet.

Re: Warren Di and an LP!

This is wayyyyyyy rarer than an Lp, and little surreal honestly...

Re: Warren Di and an LP!

And that recording was obviously off the board/direct. I'm guessing it sounded a lot better in the house.

Re: Warren Di and an LP!

yeah, it was some fan in the costume I guess. And yeah, Stephen was really bad.. But Warren...:notworthy

Re: Warren Di and an LP!

Can't see the vid from where I am but Steven apparently had vocal cord issues in the 90's and hasn't really been able to get up to where he used to be. It's better these days but there's always room for improvement.

ya it's a pure honest recording... this is how they really sounded that night without the echo of the room, the crowd noise, and the sheer volume...

i've heard lots of board tapes and very few artists sound "great" raw...

Re: Warren Di and an LP!

the singer looked like he'd rather be getting a proctology exam. he did not look enthusiastic about the show at all.

Re: Warren Di and an LP!

Ok, that was actually 1997 and not 2007. During that era, they were a 4-piece and hadn't but a 2nd guitarist in place yet (Robbin was out of the band but they were hoping he would beat the demons that ultimately took his life).

That was not a great sounding era for them. Not to mention, as has been said, it's a board mix, and without anything else added, yeah, it won't sound that great. Add the crowd noise, some more ambience and mix it a little better and it'll sound totally different.

Here they are NOW (ok, 2010). Not a board mix, but you can tell they sound better now than they did then.

Cranky-d, Stephen has always been that way on stage since the beginning. It's the "tough guy" thing.

Re: Warren Di and an LP!

you sure Erik? back when Robbin was on "hiatus", Juan was still in the band and they still looked hair metal.. looks like Robby Crane on bass in that clip I posted.
