No - Warren's tone on the Beacon DVD (at least with the Cherry Sunburst) is a result of stock Burst Buckers (1 & 2). Apparently, Warren went to the Custom Shop and picked out the guitar completely stock.
His old Darkburst has PG's in both positions. I haven't heard of his using that guitar in quite some time, though.
I've actually gotten to talk to him twice (and have seen him 3 times). Whenever he comes to town, he plays the same small club, and he and the band usually stand around outside afterwards signing autographs and talking to friends and fans.

Ditto here...has to be after a Mule or DTB (small club) show.
Never asked Derek about pickups, never was curious until the SG/Randall. I have BB2, BB3, 57, and 57+ and I'm inclined to think it's a BB1 but the 57s are in a 335 (maple log) copy and that could be coloring M.O. Warren's first CShop CSB Paul had 490 & 498, the Cshop DSB came with 496 & 500. The last time I talked to him a couple of years ago he was telling me (he obviously doesn't get to talk about pickups a lot cause he was getting off) about all his new guitars and pickups. I got to much info and had no pen and pad. When I saw the Beacon and Deepest End DVDs (and looked at the recording dates) I realized these were the guitars he was talking about. So the CShop VCSB Paul from the Beacon...
If you watch both DVDs...happens with Soldano or Marshall...the amp is EQed to the rear pickup and the front sounds a little plastic. This happens to me on my high output bridge vintage neck combo's which makes me suspect he went back to 490/498. I don't think Fillmore's cause they sound good either position no matter the amp set. Maybe a BB1 and BB3? Man when he hits the bridge on VCSB he has more gain...Need another mule show to clear this up. LOL
