starting a band up i'm mostly a strat player, classic strat sounds. i've got the "neck on" to fake a telecaster. the rhythm guitar player also has a strat based tone, but we are looking for tone separation. i'm thinking about picking up a cheapie guitar ($200 range) to temporarily fill the gap. standard bar music stuff, blues/rock/modern rock.
i know a $200 guitar is a $200 guitar, but i'm not looking to dump a lot of money into a instrument until the band starts getting splittable gig money. in the future it will probably be a couch guitar or pickup/wiring experiment exercise. if money was no object i would just buy a gibson 339 (something that sounds great, but is definitely not a strat sound).
