Wat amp. Joan Jett.

We all know it. "I Love Rock and Roll". That utterly blown-out, ripped up tone for the main rhythm. Wat is it?
She played Musicman amps I thought, but what else is going on with it?

Re: Wat amp. Joan Jett.

Joan uses a variety of amps - Musicman212 which was used on 'I Love Rock N' Roll' and all the hits as well as a Boogie head with a Vox AC30 212.

Re: Wat amp. Joan Jett.

That's my favorite example of a guitar tone that's heavy as hell, but not necessarily "high gain". I love it.

Re: Wat amp. Joan Jett.

I gotta be honest, it sounds like multiple tracks using various means to extract pain out of the tone. Part of it sounds like a fried soundboard or something similarly hard-clipped. I know I woefully underestimated the Rat's ability to massacre a guitar signal and am leaning towards that ss preamp getting utterly spanked with a Rat...

Badass...

Re: Wat amp. Joan Jett.

Steve Jones played on the original I Love RnR if it's that version could've been a cranked Twin I guess
