Wax Potted Seth Lover??

Has anyone here wax potted a Seth Lover pickup? If so, what did you think and how does it compare to a standard APH1?

the potted seth is still nicer sounding than a 59 with the A2 in it BUT it takes away something as many have said that have A/B'ed both versions
but just leave your seth un- potted unless you are having serious feedback issues? I do not with my seths or ants cause they were wound right

I had it done for some customers of mine and I don't think it takes anything away, but I haven't made an A/B comparison. If they sound great, that's all that matters.

The voicing of both p'ups is different, the APH-1s are mellow and syrupy, the Seths are bright and articulated. I've never been able to bond with the APH-1s but it was love at first sight (hearing?) with the Seths.

I have two guitars with Seth Lovers and playing classic Rock, British Blues and Jazz Fusion I've never had any squealing problem with'em, but I don't play 20,000-seater venues, mind you! ;)

Thanks for the info guys. I don't own a Seth yet, but I know I like a2's. When I get one, I'll keep it unpotted unless I end up having issues.

Nope, classic/psychedelic rock, alt-country, and garage jazz. I sometimes revisit some Black Sabbath if I'm in the mood but that's it for me. I guess I'm approaching "Geezer-hood"! LOL

All about the noise gate.

All That Remains and Children of Bodom ALL day through my JCM2000 with a set of Burstbuckers. I'm sure a Seth will do just fine with gating.

Here is what i personally can say about the seth, having one in your guitar is just like being back in the late 50's anf for me it was like pulling a P.A.F out of a new at the time les paul and using one of it's P.A.F's in my strat.
There is a lot talk about this PAF this and that PAF that, yada yada yada,but in all honestly seymour has nailed the tone of a fine tuned 57-59 P.A.F with this model! I mean geez... seth lover himself worked with seymour on this! what more do these PAF guys need??? LOL

I think I bought a wax potted version of the Seth Lover online (maybe OEM version)? When I turn the screws there are wax coming off so I assume it is... I'm quite convinced it is not a fake as the tones are similar to what I heard of others, there's a sticker labeled sh-55n behind, no SD signature.

With that said, I think it's one of the best humbucker I own, love it in the bridge position. Right now I have it in a LTD floyd guitar, and it's super versatile. Never would I have imagine putting a Seth in a floyd guitar... but it works!

I have a seth of custom shop seth's in a Charvel san dimas and it one of my most played strats:approve:

Does the Seth come in black? Or does it always come with nickel or gold cover? I have the APH-1 in the neck, but with all the raves about the Seth neck, I think I'm becoming sold on it, especially w/ Blue, Lt., and Ed saying such good things about it. I have my hybrid ordered, and may match it w/Seth neck.

if ordered/bought(unless otherwise specified) with a cover it is a crap shoot i heard? you may get zebra,black, white or double cream. best bet is to special order one without cover (floor shop custom?)

I grew up in the '60's psychedelic era, a lot of great stuff back then. A few of my favorites: Iron Butterfly Theme, 'Fields of Regret' by Alice Cooper (first album), and 'Mind Flowers' by Ultimate Spinach.
