Wax potting 70s humbuckers

Hey all this is my first post. I own a 70s Penco Les Paul copy and its always had a quirky thing about it. If i tap on the body, tap on the pickup, or switch the pickup selector, its clearly audible through the amp. Its like this on bridge and neck pickup. Also, if i talk into the pickup, its audible. Almost like the whole body itself is a pickup. I love the way the guitar sounds but this has always bothered me. Iv attached some clips of the guitar DI'd and me tapping on the body with a pick and flipping the selector switch. Can this be fixed by wax potting the pickups? Any advice on successfully doing the process without changing the guitars inherent sound? Thanks!

welcome to the forum!

yes chances are wax potting the pups will end the microphonics but no matter what you do, its going to change the sound somewhat. in many cases the change is subtle and might not be noticed, hard to say what you personally would notice but id guess that if the pups are that microphonic i would notice the difference once it was potted
