Way to much Bass

Hello everyone,

I need some advise here regarding a neck pickup for my Gibson Les Paul Classic. Currently I have a 59 in the bridge position (love it) and a APH-2 in the neck position, and while using just the neck pickup I get TONES of booming bass. I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and what pickup they chose instead / to replace the APH-2. I would idealy like it to work well with the 59. I was thinking of a jazz in the neck positon, or even another 59.

If the A2P has too much bass for you definitely do NOT get the 59. Have you monkeyed with your height at all on the bass side?

The jazz won't sound quite as sweet as the A2P, but it will give you decent mids, plenty of highs and a rolled back low end.

You can get SD covers from any dealer. On here we have a few dealers: Bada Bing, Wymore Guitars, and Lewguitar.

It's funny, but the way you described your APII neck matched to the 'T' the way my Heritage sounded with a 59 in the neck (which has since been changed to an APII).

While the APII has more low end than a 59, it's not 'boomy' in my experiance. As Luke said, try to adjust the pickup height and/or the poles on the bass side. I suspect it may be set too high right now, so fiddle and report back with how it sounds. :fingersx:
