WCR Darkburst Bridge\59 neck?

Re: WCR Darkburst Bridge\59 neck?

When mixing brands, just make sure the polarity is the same between the two brands, or you may have to flip a magnet in one.

I've never heard the Darkburst, so I can't comment. My first instinct is to go with one brand, just so there's less of a difference in character between the two. I've also mixed brands with perfectly good results.

Re: WCR Darkburst Bridge\59 neck?

I have a WCR Crossroads bridge and it is really good.

The '59 in the neck of a Les Paul is generally too boomy for my taste. If it gets into a bad mood it sounds like a trashcan full of pickle glasses rolling down the stairs when playing full or almost full chords. Fingerpicking can be good depending on what you like.

It's somewhat guitar dependent, I just got a LP which seems to be more even on the neck pickup than my others.

I think that you should use a Crossroads in the neck instead of the 59, I used to use 59's but have since changed them all for Crossroads in the neck position and will never look back. They are just a much better sounding more clear pickup to my ear. I use the Godwood bridge in my Gibson SG, ESP Eclipse, and Clone Strat but the Darkburst will be great as well, especially in a Les Paul. Obviously this is all imo and ymmv.

I have a Darkburst B and a Seth L Neck in a LesPaul Std - tonal heaven!
both without cover! A crossroad neck is sure a fantastic neck pu-
i had the SL before so I am happy with it too. I was not such happy in semi
with the SL Neck. It worked superb with the LP std instead.
But I wd rather take a CR if I were before. :scratchch

Put in the 59 and you're right, too boomy. Crossroads on the way!

Re: WCR Darkburst Bridge\59 neck?

Just to put things into perspective: we are comparing a mass-produced semi-cheap '59 to the cream of hand-made pickups and the only common ones which are even more expensive than SD's custom shop.

A SD Antiquity will also kick for the same things that the Crossroads neck does.

I've had the 59 in other guitars and it sounded great! Just not in this particular Les Paul.
