we probably won't have to solder ever again

Re: we probably won't have to solder ever again

it's about time.
Now instead of having to etch boards, we can screen print them. Heck, might even be able to load it into an inkjet printer and spray out Tonebenders all day. As it stands you can load that pen directly into a Silhouette or similar craft CNC cutter and do it.

Re: we probably won't have to solder ever again

Holy ****, that's amazing! I kinda wonder about longevity though . . .

Re: we probably won't have to solder ever again

They talked about schematics and prototypes so it might appear that longevity wasn't a primary concern.

Still, a pretty great idea, especially for testing and education purposes.

Re: we probably won't have to solder ever again

Fill a printer cartridge with the stuff and we could all print out plexis and vibrolux reverbs. Just snap in the tubes, transformers and and resistors. Would be like paint by numbers to build an amp.

Re: we probably won't have to solder ever again

now is that gonna add or subtract from the hand wired industry?

Re: we probably won't have to solder ever again

I like soldering.
There's always going to be some one who wants hand wired booteek stuff.

nah, not gonna do a thing. As someone else said, chances are the ink won't be good for much besides prototyping. You wouldn't be able to throw too much voltage through it and I'm pretty sure anyone ordering a hand-wired pedal who looks in and sees a piece of paper with a drawing on it will go on full-balls violent anger.

Depends on the quality of the paper. The photo paper might have better tone than the standard printer paper.

Re: we probably won't have to solder ever again

I have some NOS vintage 80's dot matrix printer paper if anyone wants to try for classic hair metal tones.

If anything, it might add to the industry. It would be putting a convenient, inexpensive prototyping tool out there for people to use.

Re: we probably won't have to solder ever again

Quite timely as my soldering iron went kaput. Waiting for a new element is a PITA.

Re: we probably won't have to solder ever again

This is a wet dream for pedals and amps.

But how the hell am I supposed to inhale burning fumes from that!? That's my second favorite part about soldering!

Re: we probably won't have to solder ever again

That is wonderful. That would be very useful for prototyping and teaching. I wonder if the material is any cheaper than the silver based shielding paint? If it is, it would be a great alternative. So nice to be able to just paint your shielding on.

Re: we probably won't have to solder ever again

pedals and amps? Dang you guys are quick

Time will only tell what our capabilities will be with this thing
