Weber alnico 1230

I just received one of these in the mail today, i open the box, remove the speaker and notice that the "can" that covers the speaker magnet is loose. I tried to fiddle with it and see if, with a little pressure, it would snap firmly into place, but no luck. Is this something i can fix easily, or should i send it back?

i ****ing hate mail order! way too much bull**** like this happening lately.

Re: Weber alnico 1230

hmm yes, there is. but the "bell cover" doesn't fit snuggly in the first place. it's like a lid that comes close but doesn't fit a jar correctly. when you tighten it, it still doesn't fit. in addition, the head of the screw is smaller in diameter than the hole in the "bell cover." so when I do tighten it, it doesn't actually fasten down the "bell cover." WTFBBQ!? this is bull****.

i also just noticed that the speaker cone material overlaps the mounting holes on the speaker frame. am i supposed to puncture this to get my screws in?

this thing is going back. I'm not sure I want to wait another month for a new one either.

maybe i'm being *****y. i guess i can just remove the cover. but how about the speaker cone/mounting hole overlap thing?

You have to punch the speaker mounting posts through the paper in the holes...it's that way on ALL new speakers.

As for the bell cover Im not sure what to tell you...if you tighten the screw and the cover is still loose email Weber and have them help you out. Ted's crew are some of the best guys inthe biz and have never once left me hanging.
