Weber MiniMass questions/opinions

My Jet City JCA2212 (20w 2 chanel combo) is too loud at anything above "1" on the master volume, and lacks a line out for quiet (direct) recording to my PC like my Modeler has. The recording comes second to the volume problem.

The Weber mini mass looks to be able to give me both easily. However.....

Should i go for a balanced TRS or unbalenced TS line out to input into my PC's soundcard (Asrock Z87 MB)?

What digital cab simulator programs have yall tried? Any decent free options?

Should i just run a post EQ in an upside down U shape instead?

I run my 18 Watter combo through a H&K Red Box, then to a bare-bones Mini MASS, then to the speaker. The Red Box goes into my Scarlett 2i2 and handles the cab sim.

I can take the volume down to almost nothing with the MASS and the direct signal from the Red Box sounds great. Works equally well with my little Champ head.

That sounds like a great setup, just a bit more than what i need right now. If i start recording more, i may look for a used Red box.

LeCab is a good one.

I have a Weber Mass Lite and I love it, but with most attenuators, it's mainly for shaving off a little bit, not bringing a tube amp down to bedroom levels.
Ill look into LeCab when i get home tonight, from the website it looks well liked and free, which is promising.
