I'm having a hum problem with a bridge position JB. Before that I had the same problem with a DiMarzio Breed. Same guitar, same wiring, just different pickups. It is not a grounding problem...at least not one I've encountered before. Here is what happens:
The pickup behaves normally. Normal noise. When I put my hands on the strings or any metal part, what little hum there is goes away, as per normal. However, if I keep my fretting hand on the strings, then pass my picking hand over the pickup, particularly the slug coil, (touching nothing) it begins to hum. Again, I am grounding the string with my fretting hand so the normal hum is quiet. As a bring my picking into the proximity of the pickup it begins to hum.
And again, it has happened with two different pickups in the same guitar.
Anybody have any idea what is going on here?
