Weird Problem After Installing SMB-5A

So I'm having a strange occurrence with a Warwick FNA.

The bass makes no sound unless I pull the cable slightly out of the input jack. If I hold it just right, then it makes some sound, but only when the bass is in passive mode. In active mode the bass will produce a high pitched whining sound (almost like an analog synth) if the volume is around 7 o'clock.

The electronics are the Seymour Duncan SMB-5A and the accompanying preamp. Everything checks out on those, and the preamp board is receiving power from the battery. The SMB-5A is a new pickup as the original MEC was bad (determined by running a check kindly suggested here).

The strange thing is this is a brand new output jack, but I'm guessing it is bad. I really hate these stereo closed panel input jacks because there is no way to get inside one and bend the contacts so they can be tighter.

Anyone else have an idea of something else this could be?

Seems to me that you have connected up the three contacts of the TRS jack socket in the wrong order. The whining sound is from the battery.

The fact that you can obtain a signal from the Ring contact confirms the diagnosis.

That makes sense. When I flipped the the white and black leads going to the yes jack, I ended up with nothing. I am going to kill the jack and completely suction off any solder and start over again. The cavity in that bass is really tight, and I am concerned a small bit of solder may have dropped down and formed a bridge between the two contacts.
