Weird Surf Rock I Guess...

Stevo

Tonus Maximus Pacificas
A friend of mine just got back from Fiji and he was telling me some stories and showing me pictures of great surf and a supercool island that he stayed at for 2 weeks.
With that in mind, I tried to come up with a surf diddy but it is somewhat skewed from that I think :D

I used my Les Paul with the SL/59n combo. I played through my new 1987x Marshall, with a V-30 speaker for the clean sounds and a greenback for the dirt.

That Marshall sounds thick :alcoholic
Fun odd tune :chairfall Likes the slight askew things we have in this forum :)

ahh the weird things that keep us up at night :D thanks Rid

I notice a bit of difference with the greenbacks and the blue dog speakers.. both cool, just different.

Re: Weird Surf Rock I Guess...

Very nice production Stevo! Fat tones, great playing, and nice overall package.

Re: Weird Surf Rock I Guess...

Hmm...I think you lost me a bit on this one, sounds good but I couldn't dance to it I kept falling over

Re: Weird Surf Rock I Guess...

Hey Wattage are you saying that this would never have made American Bandstand? :D

Scott thanks for checking it out... it was a quickie but I had some fun.
I started to download your video last night but I was pretty tired after doing this clip. I am going on a bike ride tonight and I'll start the download before I leave.

ncie tune, great playing as always. however, with wattage, i agree. im kinda lost on the vibe you were trying to get. it started off kinda surfy but not quite, then lost that, they kinda regained it. im just lost. llol

Re: Weird Surf Rock I Guess...

Thanks xerxes
It's called "no direction" :D :D I am good at that for some reason.

I was trying to contrast the v30 and the greenback also.. in fact, I just got that v30 from Wattage :D

I think I like the v30 for clean tones but I like the greenbacks and the blue dogs for crunch.

Re: Weird Surf Rock I Guess...

can you post a a/b tested clip of the blue dog and the greenback? that would be sweet. thanks. if you could, do crunch rythme and lead and clean rythme and lead for both. if you could do this, it would be amazing. thanks

Yes - I was planning on it anyway.. probably next week.

Re: Weird Surf Rock I Guess...

Steve, thank for posting these 59/SL clips. I really like their sound. The combo sounds pretty similar to my 59/CC. The SL might be a bit weaker than the CC, but the POWER of your Marshall compensates for this.

Excellent and tasty playing as usual.

although some of it didnt exactly 'fit' together... it felt like it had a rather nice presence.
