I was having a strange issue with noise. Instead of feeding back like normal amps do it would go into a TV static sound. This has been going on for almost a year and it's been in and out of repair places. Unfortunately have had to put quite a bit of money into it. I bought a deluxe reverb to replace it but I miss the mesas big, bold cleans and gain sounds. I sent it back to mesa a couple weeks ago and I paid quite a bit of money to have it fixed. I really would have liked to sell it not working and moved forward but no matter how much I dug the deluxe I would always wish I was playing through the boogie.

Anyway. Their tech did an overhaul. He replaced the push pull pots which he believes were the problem of the static. He changed all the caps. Retubed it. Replaced all the tube sockets. Fixed a couple loose connections and some other stuff.

Should be here in a week or so and I can't wait. I miss the damn thing.

Good luck. You seem to be cursed when it comes to amps/electricity. With the house shocking you being the most recent event of the curse.

damn glad he's fixing it and all, but it's been a while. he needs some grease on the wheels per se'.

I remember some theads about your boogie...mmm, Was it a DC-5 or Mark III ?

Way to go. Hope it's everything it was and more. That's a damn fine amplifier.

He said it was the push pull pots that were off. Some of them had been replaced at some point with ones that were way off spec. Also 2 of them were very loose and worn from age. We will see I guess but he said he can't hear any static like before.

What year is this amp.?
Man.....all the caps and tube sockets.?
It is possible somebody put The F to your amp. Mesa generally has very good techs, and I will not start second guessing them here.....but it would be nice (just interested) to know some more detail as to what the heck went on in your amp.
Maybe there is a work order coming back with the chassis.
good luck.....it will sound like a new and much better amp.....should not have any problems with it for A Long Time. :)

MkII-B came out in 1980, and was supplanted by the MkII-C in 1983, I'd say 32-35 years old isn't bad for those repairs. Depending on where that amp has spent it's life, temps, humidity, dust will take their toll.

Oh Yeah (had no idea).....30-35 years.!
Like I said, Mesa has Good Techs.:)
Sounds like the guy did the right thing...may very well have saved you future money and headaches.
