Well, I went and did it

I was gonna wait a couple of weeks until I could sell my fretless Carvin and maybe my Alesis SR-16 and Tascam 464 MkII, but today I found an Agile for about $60 less than the going rate on eBay... It might not be my absolute first choice in color, but I think it's not bad looking (and black pups will look fine in it, so I'll save money not having to pay for nickel covers...):

All gold hardware sure would look nice, though...but that's pretty cost prohibitive.

I'm thinking black pickups, with chrome mounting ring plates from Warmoth. But yeah, zebra pups would add to the white tuxedo effect.

Re: Well, I went and did it

Black with chrome rings/plates would look mighty nice too. They'd make the smaller amount of black on the body pop.

Re: Well, I went and did it

Do Duncans zebras even come in a black/white option? The closest I see listed on the products page are cream/white zebras.

Re: Well, I went and did it

man i love a white LP style guitar...very nice!! if it was mine i'd ditch the pick guard use chrome mounting rings from stew mac (real metal ones), black speed knobs and black and white zebras (yes you can special order black and white)...i may look into one of these agiles some of them like yours look real nice!! good luck with it and post pics after you change it up.

tuxedo!!!!! alright, heres what you do: get some zebra pups, get a nice lookin tux from salvation army (about 15 bucks), some cheap aviators, and rock your balls off. well, thats what i would do anyways. in short, the zebra pups get my vote :laugh2:

damnit... I am SO close to buying one of those things. Tell me about it, when you get it:D

Black speed knobs WERE my plan...until I saw these, which incorporate both black and chrome:

As for the rings, I kinda like the idea of putting chrome toppers on a black mounting ring, rather than replacing the ring entirely. I'd like to have both the black and the chrome there as well.

Re: Well, I went and did it

Also, y'all have got me seriously considering white/black zebras...and that's DESPITE the fact that I've already got an all black neck pickup bought. I'm not usually a fan of zebra, but I can definitely see how it would work well on this guitar. Would there be any surcharge for getting a pup in that config?

Re: Well, I went and did it

Zebras...definitely!

oh and we'll need a full review and pics when it arrives!!!

Re: Well, I went and did it

Well...I'm a little embarassed. The auction I bought from had no pictures, but described the color as "white pearl" and reccomended checking Rondo's site to see the model. The only white AL2500 at Rondo these days is the one I posted earlier, so I figured it was officially called "white pearl" or some such thing, but back in the day they offered another one, in white pearlOID:

And that's what I've bought, it turns out. I'm getting the instrument tonight (the seller lives in my town) so I'll wait until I've seen it and played it in person to decide, but I may be turning around and selling this one immediately.
