It's missing the trussrod cover. I was wondering if I could simply buy one and screw it on, or would I have to adjust something to make the guitar play right. I have no experience with trussrods. HEre is a picture of it

adjusting the truss rod and putting a cover on it are 2 completely different things...

If it is missing the Truss rod covcer, just buy a cover and put it on...it's held on by 2 screws...however if the rod is out of adjustment it might need to be adjusted.

Cover's no big deal, you can find one anywhere. The cover has nothing do do whatsoever with the truss rod itself, it's just for looks, it'll play just fine with or without one. As far as adjusting the truss rod itself, the basic rule is only go a little at a time, and never force a really sticky one. Tightening the nut will straighten the neck, and loosening will cause it to bow, like a bow and arrow. Overtightening will cause the neck to bend backwards.
