Went to Voodoo Amps last weekend.

I got my Soldano Hot Rod Plus modded last weekend by Trace in Ithaca. I had him install a depth mod for the XL option, and had a retube/rebias done.
From there, I decided what the hey, I drove 240 miles one way so I might as well do a little tone shaping. All I really had him do was increase the clarity on the amp while maintaining the gain. And he and Anthony accomplished just that. I also had him add just a little warmth to the amp to give the gain more of a Marshallesque tone to it.

I'm extremely satisfied with the results. Note that there wasn't any epoxy applied to the circuits, and the mods are easily reversible. I'd recommend Trace and Anthony at Voodoo Amps to anyone interested in doing some amp tweaking.

FWIW, they only *used* the "goop" on their own custom circuits like the Hex and Witchdoctor. They don't do that anymore.

Trace and co are some FINE folks too! I love my witchdoctor :)

Hmmm. I've been considering having Voodoo install a mod on my power amp, but I was scared away after seeing some modded amps all epoxied up....

Glad you like it chc. I know that's your baby, and that you were a little nervous about having work done on it. Trace has a great reputation, and it's nice to hear that the expoxy is no longer used. I understand protecting your circuit design, but that would discourage me. Post up come clips if you can.....I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, hop in the car and get down to Charlotte!

You know I'd love to see the Panthers play....don't tempt me! I will try to squeeze some clips in...but I might wait till I get the CC dropped in the Hardtail.
