WET Reverb Demo

I recently picked up a WET Reverb pedal by Neunaber Technologies. It's pretty amazing for such a simple, two knob design. It has a Mix control for the dry/wet balance, and a Depth control, which is essential reverb time, but seems to go deeper than that. At the shorter settings, it has some of the characteristics of a nice spring, and at the more extreme settings, it turns into a beautiful, Daniel Lanois-esque soundscape verb, with just a hint of modulation on the tail.

In this clip, I have started with the dry signal, and then introduced a short verb, followed by a slightly longer verb with a wetter mix, then the longer verb and deeper mix, followed by some volume swells on that setting, simply because I was having a good time playing it!

This is my old Strat, into my Rock Bender 2x12 100w custom made combo.

Re: WET Reverb Demo

My dad had the previous version of the WET and it sounded gorgeous until the power jack broke and being mainly SMT wasn't something I could fix. Still he'd get another one if he didnt have my brothers AC15 (with spring reverb) to play.

Re: WET Reverb Demo

Cool demo Geoff.

It's so funny...digital reverb pedals used to sound like poop but as time has gone on most of them have gotten better in the low range but I can still tell it's a pedal when they are in the drink...

This is not a reflection of you or the demo or that pedal even just something about extreme settings on a digital pedal...they sound, errm...digital!

That said, to add a nice little bit of space to a dry amp they are super convenient and do a good job!

Re: WET Reverb Demo

nice Demo Geoff! makes me want to try one with my 66 reissue strat and my Non-Reverb 65 Deluxe amp...

on your demo are you using it before the preamp or in an effect loop?

Yes, you'd definitely be hard pressed trying to convince anyone that it was a natural space at the extremes! But there's something about this one that while obviously digital, is still beautiful, and musical. According to our FOH guy, it sounds fantastic through a big PA as well, so it's a keeper for sure.

No loop on that amp, so that's straight in the front.

Re: WET Reverb Demo

I picked one up about a month ago...the stereo version, with a tone control. I'm going to have to agree with you that there is something about this one...it is musical and beautiful, even if it is digital.

It was the first pedal in a long time that I instantly bonded with....I plugged it in and it was just "there" with my setup. I don't run it in stereo, but I find the tone control indispensable. I tend to run it darker than the stock mono version, which does not have a tone control.

I also find that the depth knob does a lot...changing the depth also changes the character of the reverb (e.g., it is not a one trick pony, even though it does not have presets for a bunch of different kinds of reverb).

This is the first reverb pedal in ~5 years that kicked my Van Amps Sole Mate (an actual spring reverb) off the board...I still like the Van Amps, but really appreciate the character of the Wet.
