My favourite of-the-shelf gain sound is the VHT Pitbull 50 or Pitbull 100 heads. I'm also partial to the Rivera Knucklehead, for harmonic complexity & resolution, while still being as gainy as all get-out!

Twilight your seriously giving me GAS for A Knucklehead, After a post you hade abouit praising them i had to go to their site an check them out, i expected when you said there expensive to be in the 5k range but i look and there in thr 2k range..So now im dying everytime i see your signature!!!!

LOL! I think I've turned a lot of metalheads onto the Knucklehead, because the all think because it's a boo-teak amp, that it's for playing blues or jazz, and when they hear the MASSIVE slabs of sound I get from my stack, they're like ... whoah!
I think they're very reasonably priced ... You should check one out. I can PM you to where you can hear "secret" raw guitar tracks from my upcoming album if you wanna hear the Knuckehead on more recent recordings I've done.
