I'm just not impressed with standard brand name guitars. That's why I was looking along the lines of Anderson, Grosh (which is my new guitar), Terry McInturff, Parker (to a degree, like the ideas, wish they had a few changes), Heritage, G&L, Hamer, Suhr, Melancon, GMW, Empire etc.
I was shocked to have found out that my Dean Chafin Del Sol plays and sounds better than a 3 grand Gretsch Nashville guitar or that many Les Pauls suffer from poor build design/woods and tone.

fenders just have the best feel for me. They were kinda built to be modded (for the most part, IMO) which is cool, cuz you don't pay for all the extra stuff you'll end up NOT liking. Basswood? yeah they got it. Alder? better punch than mahogany i think. I just love the feel, haha, i haven't met one i didn't like, they have a guitar (or 5) for everyone

Fender can kiss my ass. I will never buy another one unless its setneck or neck thru. Anyways I don't care who made it, if it's good, it's good.

I like eBay Fenders. But if you looking for great bang for you buck then look into Oscar Shmidt guitars, kinda like tthe squire of Washburn. Semi Hollow built strong, absolutely beuatiful for $150. The only thing i would change is spending the little money to replace the pickups with SD Classic Covers and might as well call it a Gibson ES-45.

I dunno, what always bothered me about ESP (in addition to other more decisive factors) was that I could always gut a custom Jackson for less than the same axe from ESP (Identical specs, sources: dealer quotes and online custom-shop quote forms).
Quality wise I´d say they´re both top of the line, but I just don´t see spending 10-15% more on an Import when I can get the same guitar from the Jackson Custom Shop for less

the ones sold in shops (mostly Les paul, SG and Strat copies) really arent an indication as to what the guitars are like.
very good value for money also - if you look around you can get a handbuilt LP for about a hundred more than a list price epiphone - then you could probably haggle it down to that price.
as for companies..
well tbh im not really that keen on any of those listed..
i'd pick fender as they are the "designs" that fit me best... and the telecaster is the only model made by any of those brands that i want atm (Damn you curly and your jerry donahue video!)
