What bridge pickup for a mahagony Les Paul

Hey

Ok time is of the essence so please give me your opinion. I have an Agile LP 2500 which is a Les Paul replica, made of mahogony, generally same as a Les Paul. So for a mahogony Les Paul, I need a good bridge pickup. I need it to be hot with good output, and i need it to be for metal, rock, but also it needs to have good cleans. Im down to the SH-4, SH-5 and SH-6. all seem like good pickups, the SH-4 is alnico 5 as the others are ceramic. which of these pups will sound best in a Les Paul. I need the pickup to have a great low end (real growl on the palm mutes) as well as good lead tones.

Thanks a lot guys

Any of 'em will do what you want.

The SH-5 might have more mids and more sizzle on top than the SH-4. I'd go for the JB (SH-4)...it's such a classic and I think it tends to sound great in a Les Paul. But so does the SH-5!

Never tried a SH-6...but with a name like "the Distortion" that should tell you something about its clean tones. (Tho I've heard they're clean tones are actually pretty good.)

This is one where you just have to try something and use the 21 day exchange policy if you need to. Just take a bite and see how you like it.

of all those, the jb has the best clean tone and has a great dirty tone as well

JB definitely, you can get great cleans by moving the guitar volume knob down and its distortions are some of the best ever, low end and all!

+1 for JB. I have a JB in the bridge of my Fender MIA and it performs very nicely and has good cleans. I've done research, narrowed things down, and have come to the conclusion that the Custom or Distortion will most likely go in the bridge of the next guitar I buy. :saeek:

I have a Distortion in my LP. Practically no clean if you have your amp cranked or on a high gain channel.

If your clean is important, go JB...

I have had all of those in a Les Paul.. here are some tunes I did.. and I have more clips of these pickups, and others :D
DD
JB
Custom

Here is the CC, which is a great rock pickup, with good clean and dirt..

I just put a JB in my new custom Strat with 250k tone and volume pots.

You can hear it on the first clip on my

...music page.

It rules! :saeek:

Seems like we have a pattern here: JB! :)

Re: What bridge pickup for a mahagony Les Paul

1. C-5 tight lows and vintage mids and highs
2. JB Lots of mids and thick high notes
3 Custom A less vintage sounding C-5
If it's a bright sounding guitar....Custom Custom
