People mostly talk about pups, but what abot cables/ any suggestions/

Anyone used Monster Cables?

Re: What cable to use?

I have stopped using Monster Cable due to some business moves and lawsuits they've made recently which were very frivolous, predatory, nonsensical and just flat-out MEAN. Plus they do tend to break easily.

Planet waves provide sound thats just as good and I've NEVER seen or heard of a broken one.

Re: What cable to use?

Thanks. Ive been to so many shops but therea only few - Monster Cables, Live wire planet waves, so i guess ill go with Planet waves.

Re: What cable to use?

I haven't tried anything but those cheap $25 for 20ft cables..... lol
I've been wanting to buy a Planet Waves cable though. How do they affect tone and noise?

Re: What cable to use?

Mogami Cables are ones that have a reputation for being a definatly better quality cable than Monsters (which I would agree are over priced)

Other cables to look at are George L's and the Planet Waves ones.

Personally I use Powertech which are very close to Monster in construction but seem to be a little better and cost less.

If you're using 20 foot crappy cables, you'll notice a pretty huge difference when you switch over to planet waves cables . . . they just sound better. I'm not sure if they're better sheilded against noise, but your high end doesn't get eaten away as much . ..

Ditto...although I´ve never had the breakage problems others mention (not that it matters with MCs warranty)...

I´m using my current Monsters until they break, then I´m going back to buying Sommer Cable in rolls and putting on Neutrik Plugs myself ;)

Re: What cable to use?

I'm starting to feel abot the D'Addario co. (which includes Planet Waves) pretty much the same way I do about Duncan. I'd endose 'em if they'd have me. I use their strings, cables, straps, & a bunch of the other doo-hickies they make. Seems like a good company based here in the good ol' USA with a quality product.

Re: What cable to use?

Planet waves for me...i'd like to try some George L too though!

Re: What cable to use?

I use Monster CAbles now, but if I can get a better cable through planet waves at a better cable, I'll go that direction when these die (I've never had a monster cable die on me, and I have several, and they've been through hell). I'm with Billy Bob...man I'd endorse D'addario/Planet Waves in a heartbeat.......not so much with Seymour Duncan, while I do think they make some of the best pickups out there (I've got the 59's in my Les Paul), I've not been sold on their single coils yet :) I use Texas Specials right now...maybe one day I'll get a wild hair to order some for my S&T Custom and see how they sound in it. But as for right now, I'm really diggin my Texas Specials. I may take the texas special tele pickups out of my tele and put in a mini bucker and a good tele neck pickup though...anyway, I'm off topic enough :)

Re: What cable to use?

I use a 20 ft. Mogami cable w/ Neutrik plugs from my guitar to my pedalboard, George L's for pedal cabling, and a Monster 15 ft. cable to my amp.

My sound is pretty clean throughout, I've had the Monster forever. The reason I've stuck with the Monster for so long, is I bought it on a suggestion from a friend, and it made a night and day difference from the crappy cable I was using.

Granted, any decent cable would have sounded better than the cheap cable I was using previously.

Re: What cable to use?

I dunno. I use the Monster Jazz and have never had a problem and they sound great. ANd they are THICK, so they resist the stomps of oblivious bandmates... :D
