I don't think its any secret that I'm no fan of Les Pauls, but $5k????????

Not just no, but HELL NO!!!

I could buy 4 awesome guitars, or even 2 awesome guitars and one Gibson Les Paul, and then paint them to whatever spec fits my tastes, and STILL have money left over!

The value just isn't there. Not for that price.

Maybe. But I wouldn't want to go to all the trouble and work to find out. I'd rather just build my own.
