The best thing for tolex is Murphy's Oil Soap mixed with warm water and a sponge. Use a towel to dry it as you go. I've cleaned vinyl and leather interior with it, and it's the only thing that erases the dirt in the crevices. Once I saw what it did to the white leather in a 61 Cadillac, I was sold.
If you don't want to buy Murphy's, just use liquid dish soap and warm water.
The Murphy's works better though.
For cleaning a chassis, I just spray some WD-40 on a clean cotton rag and get all the fingerprints off.

Don't don't don't put Armorall anywhere near anything you care about. 1) It makes things greasy. 2) It turns things brown with extended use.
Also watch out to wipe up all of the WD40 - that stuff gets gummy and collects grime and dirt real bad.

armour all attracts dirt. the stuff is like glue for dirt. Yuck.
mild soap and water and be careful not to soak it or let it run into the amp.
On the faceplate, good luck. That is normally corroision you're talking about. I'd go very very easy with a damp rag and hope for a miracle. Maybe a little buffing on a Dremmel tool?
