What do you guys think about this esp

Distinctive design, uptown appointments, and tone to die for.

With its semi-hollow single-cutaway mahogany body and flamed maple top, this modern spin on a vintage-classic looks fantastic and sounds incredible. The ESP Xtone guitar features a 3-piece maple neck with rosewood fretboard, decked out with pearl and abalone block inlays. A 3-layer creme binding trims the body, neck, headstock, and F-hole, while gold hardware completes its uptown appearance. A Seymour Duncan Alnico 2 Pro pickup set give it tonal versatility. Equipped with a tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece and XJ frets. Controls include tone and volume for each pickup and 3-way switching.

I love les pauls, but recently got into semi- hollows and now.. im very interested in this. Its the best of both worlds

Theres one I can buy for $350.. used..but Id like to play it first..anyone actually play this guitar?

Re: What do you guys think of this esp guitar?

Looks better than most of their LP shaped guitars (non Edwards/Navigator).

Re: What do you guys think of this esp guitar?

I have a black PC-2 (the double cutaway) in my stable and honestly, it's a really killer instrument for $600 or so. It's not quite as responsive as the more expensive rides but it plays, feels & sounds great.

Tonally, it's not as thick and creamy as a Paul, nor does it have the air & wood of a 335 and truthfully, it's closer to being a 335 then a Paul. Not much of a semi-hollow vibe to speak of which is the one thing that really disapointed me about the guitar. If you're really after a semi-hollow then look into something else.

Re: What do you guys think of this esp guitar?

Looks a little funky to me. But it would probably play great and worth the money. I've also noticed that ESP flamed maple looks better in person than in pictures.

Re: What do you guys think of this esp guitar?

im bidding on one on ebay for 300 bucks.. a steal..esp if its in brand new condition..i have a mexican strat so to upgrade from a modded strat to a new type of les paul/semi hollow guitar is fine with me..i just wanted to get a new guitar thats totally different in terms of body shape and sound..

i was either going to get a tele or epiphone les paul but this guitar has tuneomatic bridge, grover tunes, and seymour d. pickups so i was like wow..better stuff on that than a epiphone les paul...

i just need a guitar that crunches decently and sounds and feels great..

should i win the guitar..ill play with it and if it sounds and feels great for the money than why not keep it.

id like to get a real semi hollow one day along with a new martin acoustic but im only playing guitar here and there and jamming with other people since im on drums now..

Re: What do you guys think of this esp guitar?

Man, in that case you'll probably be thrilled with that ESP for $300-400 clams!

I bought mine used too and I'm still constantly amazed at just how good it really is when I play it back to back with the other guitars that are in-house... None of my buddies can readily believe that new, it's a $600 instrument. My one friend had actually borrowed the X-Tone for several months to use as a touring back-up for his '91 PRS Custom 24 (that he bought new) and likes it almost as much. I also think it holds up extremely well to my '02 lemon top LP, the X-Tone is quite a bit more 'generic' sounding and not as responisve to touch but it's got about 70% of the vibe at 30% of the price.

Go for it!

Re: What do you guys think of this esp guitar?

I think the double cutaway version looks way nicer. The single cut and offset waist together don't do it for me. Still it seems like a nice deal.

Re: What do you guys think of this esp guitar?

I don't know if I like it or not. I dig the finish and the uptown appointments. But the shape is sort of like a warped balloon, like somebody is pinching part of it while they blow it up.

But if it sounds like a 336, I'd take one.

P.S. Don't care for the position of the switch, but that could be easily moved.

Re: What do you guys think of this esp guitar?

Have a look at the blonde version at Musician's Friend. It actually looks really good.

Re: What do you guys think of this esp guitar?

as long as it feels great and sounds great for the price..its fine with me..

im not buying high end guitars until i come across a steal or sell all my drum gear hahaha

this coming from a drummer now haha

Re: What do you guys think of this esp guitar?

It looks cool, but I wish ESP or Edwards made a version... I don't know much about the Xtone series, but they're most likely made in China or Indonesia and those countries haven't quite caught up to the manufacturing standards of Korea, much less Japan or the US.
