Re: What do your guitars weigh

Pretty broad weight range among mine:

lightest: '99 Parker, 5.7 lbs
heaviest: '72 Ibanez bass, 12 lbs on the nose

I prefer solidbodies in the 7.5-8.5 lb range, 9 lbs tops.

My heaviest LP is 9.9 lbs and it doesn't get much attention these days. Even though the thing sounds great, it's too heavy to handle comfortably for more than a few songs in a row. Have been thinking about setting it up as a dedicated slide axe, maybe with e-tuners for programmable open tunings. Much as I dislike the Min-eTune system, it would be pretty handy for slide work.

Re: What do your guitars weigh

I don't have a reliable way of measuring mine...... but I'm often curious about this same question.

Ditto here. I do know my heaviest one (Burny LP) is well over 9 lbs. Id guess close to 11. The lightest guitar I ever had (sold it like a fool) was my Black Epi Ace Frehley was under 7 lbs. And it had 3 Super Distortions in it..

Re: What do your guitars weigh

I am sure I weighed mine at some point, but I need a new scale. I know they range from 6lbs to just under 8.

Re: What do your guitars weigh

My highest was a Paulowonian Thin Line Tele that I got custom made to be as light as possible. It had Alumitones pickups, wood mounting, and anything else that would make it lighter. It ended up being a little less than 4 pounds. My heaviest was one of the first Les Pauls is bought, which was about 14 pounds.

I sold the Tele and the Les Paul is now kinda my brothers. I try to keep my guitars below 8.5 pounds these days. Im getting too old for all that weight constantly on my back.

Re: What do your guitars weigh

I use to play bass, so most guitars don't bother me with their weight per se. I do prefer certain types to be at/under a preferable weight tho. Like LPs 8.5-9.5 lbs, 336/356s under 7 lbs, strats under 8 lbs, or old MMs under 6 lbs. There are exceptions though. My melody maker is a D model, so it comes 2 pickups instead of one. It rings like a bell and sounds massive with a HB. I don't mind it being "heavier".

My current lineup at the moment:
R8= 8.8 lbs
336= 6.5 LB
356s= 6.75 & 6.85 lbs
'60 Melody Maker = 6.2 lbs
Fireman Tele= ~8.0 lbs

Edit: With my newest 356 and MM, I'm learning that lighter weight isn't inherently better.

Once I strap them on, I never pay any attention to the weight. I'm too busy playing, watching the rest of the band, and watching the audience to notice.

Blue, what type of music? Originals? 70s bluesy stuff? Thanks

Re: What do your guitars weigh

I got myself a cheap fishing scale coupla years ago. Works fine for guitars; I think it cost around $10.

Re: What do your guitars weigh

I stepped on a scale once with one of my Les Pauls and it read 360 lbs.

I'm praying that damn guitar weighs at least 180!

Re: What do your guitars weigh

I don't know all the weights of my guitars but I know my Epiphone LP Standard weighs around 10 1/2 lbs. A bit on the heavy side but it's a great player. I don't believe that the heavier the guitar is the better sounding which I believe is an urban myth.
