what does 2 hb's in series sound like???

I am talking about series at the switch when 2 humbuckers are combined. For example on a les paul, the toggle in the middle.
I already know what the parallel sounds like, as this is pretty much standard 3 way switch wiring. I would like to know about series which I have yet to try. Is it bigger, better, more full or something else.

I am not refering to series/parallel mode as the typical thin useless sounding mini switch mod for ONE humbucker.

it sounds like two pups in parallel but with more output, low mids and just a thicker overall tone
