what happened to the price of a new 6505 ?

Re: what happened to the price of a new 6505 ?

Probably. They're already "disposable" as far as amps go - if the amp starts needing work to it, just replace the whole amp. I wouldn't pay more than $500 for a used one because they are literally everywhere, and that used price should go down since the cost of a newer one went down.

I don't doubt the Made in USA ones are better? or not? Cold solder joints and stuff...

Except...the wave soldering machine in the US factory is probably MIC :laugh2:

OK, just shoot me. Shoot me now. I just lost three hundred dollars on the value of my US made 6505. Shoot me, its best for everyone concerned.

Re: what happened to the price of a new 6505 ?

Actually the standard 6505 went from $999 to $899.
The 6505+ went from $1199 down to $999.
Used price for the standard should go down $50, and the +'s used-price should drop about $100.

As already said, about $500 would be a fair used price unless it's minty, then maybe up to $600ish.

Yeah someone (OK, me maybe lol) should call-out all the big retailers for not getting the product pics up to date.
They're just about all still running photos of "yesterdays" amps with the BUILT IN THE USA claim in the lower-left corner.
At least we still have MESA, Carvin, Seymour, ect........!

I don't care so much if it's MIA or MIC - if the board has thin traces, unreliable parts, and is way more difficult to service than it should be (regardless of origin) than it isn't worth much to me. Again, that's why if something seriously goes wrong on a Peavey and it can't be fixed by simply replacing a resistor/cap/switch etc than sell it as-is to recoup some losses and buy another one. Rinse repeat.

And this is your experience with a peavey? Because that's totally contrary to mine.

I'm not saying Peavey amps are unreliable. What I'm saying is that if anything major fails (possible if you abuse the amp, but I'm not going to exaggerate anything - it's unlikely if you take care of it), then I wouldn't bother fixing it and just find another for $500. As for ease of servicing - I"m spoiled by having a hand-wired amp. Much easier for me to work on than anything with a PCB (but can obviously be done). Seeing peaveys survive decades doesn't surprise me at all. They just have the major bonus of being inexpensive if you ever need a new one.
