I have a original 1977 gibson explorer I just got, PERFECT Shape, never played. The guy replaced the pickups with Super Distortions from Dimarzzio, and after playing it and changing and the height of the pickup(bridge), it seems as if my 498t in my bridge of my les paul has more dirt and wails 10x better than the explorer which I thought was hard to believe but not according to m last gig this past saturday, I felt that I could shred a loottt better with my gibson les than I could with my explorer. So im wondering, is a 500t that comes stock in a standard gibson explorer stronger than a super distortion? or do i have some more tweaking to do? I've played an explorer with a 500t and I could play it no problem, soloing/shredding wise, lot of dirt and just wails, dont even need any effects for it, just played awesome. So I'm just curious if I need to replace?
