Can't really see from the picture, but i think you maybe refering to a Thinline Tele, and fender do still make them. I think having the F hole makes it louder when playing un plugged, and makes it have a different tone when plugged in, however i dont know what difference in tone a hollow body gives.

It's a 69 thinline RI, the F-hole makes it sound brighter and rounder, but it's suseptable to unwanted feedback with high gain/high volume.
