One good thing to remember, also is that when you're playing in, say, Am in the box at the fifth fret, you're also playing in the C major pentatonic box...in other words, there are some cool licks from the Am scale that work effortlessly in a Cmajor progression. When you know how the scale positons interconnect, you can fly all around the Am scale while in C. It works, and gives some insight into Richard Bett's style.
The easy way to remember it for other keys is the relative minor scale...Am=C, Bbm=C#, Bm=D, and so on. Once again, it's about patterns to find the notes, and then all up to the emotion of the player.
