What kind of deal could you have gotten on this amp?

So, I've been looking around for bass amps for a long time, and I finally got one; a Gallien-Krueger 400RB. Originally, it was $750, but it was marked down to $580 for clearance. I got the floor model, it was on clearance because it was the only one left. I ended up not paying for the tax, and payed the $580 price tag and left with it. If I had payed the sales tax, it would've been $45 extra, bringing the price to $625.

Would most people have been able to get an actual discount on something like this, or get some pedals/cables thrown in, or did I do pretty well?

This was my first time cutting any sort of deal with a guitar shop, and I feel I did pretty well. Though I somehow feel that I should've been able to get a little something extra out of the fact that it was a floor model.

I think you did pretty well. It was already on clearance, and you got tax knocked off.

The most obsurd deal I've gotten out of a store, however, was walking out with a 700 dollar C-1 Classic, 15 dollar straplocks, a 100 dollar SKB case, and a 40 dollar leather strap, out the door for 750. I think the guitar on the receipt ended up being like 530, but that's the only time I've ever heard of that.

How in the world did you pull that off?!

Showed up with cash in hand at GC, I'm on a firstname basis with 2-3 of the guys there, and have hooked one of the guys up with shows with my old band.

i've found that used (no abused) gear off ebay is the best way to go if you're on a budget. there's no telling what someone has done to show floor models and what the store has ignored. my idiot room mate bought a crate bass amp that 1.input jack doesn't work 1/2 the time, 2.supposed to come with a footswitch but didn't 3. headphone jack doesn't work 4. paid full price + tax (i guess you let your guard down with your parent's money). I personally have no experience with crate q.c. but i doubt guitar cented tested the amp or would have cared if someone screwed it up.

i never buy used stuff online. if i cant try it out (which would show you all those problems) i dont want it. if its sitting in the store and you get taken, that sucks but you shoulda taken more time and made a better decision
