What magnet for 8k neck if using UOA5 in 9k bridge?

Need some help from you magnet gurus.

I bought a set of lindy fralin pure PAFs 8-9k set and they weren't quite right, so after I spoke to lindy on the phone, I started swapping pickup magnets. Lindy had an AII in the bridge and neck. I tried a A4 in the bridge, but it was too in my face, and I wasn't happy with the highs either.. so I swapped to a rough cast UOA5, and wow, the bridge sounds spectacular. I love it.

However, the neck sounds kinda boomy/woofy, with the A2. I'm hoping it's just not too many winds - I am not so sure about starting to pull wraps of wire off (though I've done that before).

What magnet might help?

I bought some AIII magnets with the intention of trying them specifically in the neck position. I've been reading a lot of articles the past few weeks, and several pickup builders really rave about the AIII in the neck, along with the AIV in the bridge. You obviously don't care for the AIV in the bridge, but the AIII might be great in the neck for you. I find the AV to be too boomy in the neck for my tastes and generally love my AII's there. In some guitars though, the AII is a little too warm. I'm hoping that AIII's solve that issue for me.

Good luck.

The A3 gets my vote.

Yeah, A3.

Your title bugged me a bit...use of the word "if". The mag of the neck pup generally has nothing to do with the mag type used in the bridge. You select mags based upon the tonal effect you want to achieve from that pup, not based upon what you have in the other pup. It's not so objective/clinical. Very independently subjective matter

I get what you are saying, but I wanted to point out the existing bridge configuration because it sounds great, the neck doesn't, and I don't want to be horribly unbalanced in the final result.

My magnet should be here today - luckily Addiction_FX is a whopping 30 miles from me.
