What neck P-90 to use with bridge JB?

It's for a swamp ash body, maple fretboard and neck. The G&L fallout.

I requested 500k pots when I filled the build sheet. I haven't checked but the tone pot isn't push/pull-which is stock.

Anyways the stock neck pickup is lacking mid definition. I don't know any specs on it. Both pickups sound decent together.

I'm looking at an ant (A2) and Gibson (A5). Perhaps also the vintage (A5).

Any thoughts? I'd like the neck to have definition rather than typical A2 neck mellowness. Kind of a cross between a 59n and SSL-1n. Nice even chime/presence. I have a Gibson A2 HB (BB) neck that gets boomy in one of my more sensitive amps-not a fan of that.

Hmm - the Fallouts I've worked on didn't have any push-pull pots....

I thought the bridge pickup sounded great - had some sizzle.
The P90 is terrible - no definition, and it hums.

I suggest a simple stacked P90 from Duncan - they sound great, and would work well with the humbucker in my opinion.

Yeah apparently the tone pot has the push/pull to tap the JB. It's demo'd on YouTube fallout clips-at least the ones I saw.

I'd like that extra feature though.

Yeah the stock pup is pretty disappointing.

I just searched and yes the US version still has coil tap via tone pot push/pull.

AH - that's it. I've only been working on the Asian Fallouts...

You may want to check out the Custom P90 neck, which has enough output to balance with the JB. You will have plenty of mids with that.

I'll try the vintage. Perhaps with polished magnets.

Bluesman's unwavering love for A5 P90s has confirmed my belief that an A2 just doesn't have his blues mojo. Ceramic? Isn't that a half step away from active pickups?

There is that exchange policy I can always try something else if it's not exactly right.

I suggest SP90-1 Vintage P-90. That said, if you want more definition and chime check out mini Vintage SM-1 or Seymourized SM-3 (more midrange).

My Fallout Tribute came with a 500K P/P tone knob stock. I thought all of them did regardless of the country of origin, but perhaps not???

If you don't mind some hum I'd suggest a Duncan SP90-2N Hot, it worked great in mine but I had installed a Custom in the bridge as I'm not a fan of J.B.'s. If you want something quiet then a Fralin Hum-canceling P-90 wound HOT might be a better bet over the Duncan stack???

I always hate suggesting a different brand on the Duncan forum, & Duncan will always be my favorite aftermarket pickup manufacturer, but IMHO it's much closer in tone to a actual P-90 than the Stacks are. They just retain that true S.C. sparkle a bit better than the Stacks do for some reason? However the Duncan Stacks are quieter overall so you kinda just have to weigh your options....
